ENGLISH GCSE, DRAMA GCSE, A-LEVEL

I began my teaching career at The Ashcombe School in Dorking, Surrey (2006-2007), where I taught key stage 3 Drama and English, GCSE Drama and A Level Drama.  I then spent eleven wonderful years teaching at The Harrodian School in Barnes, London (2007-2018), teaching key stages 2 and 3 and GCSE and A Level Drama. Following the birth of my son, I moved out of London and settled in West Sussex and began teaching at St. Teresa’s in Dorking, Surrey (2018-2019). Here I taught girls aged 3-10 Drama, whilst also preparing them for their LAMDA examinations. Whilst I enjoyed my time at St. Teresa’s, it gave me the opportunity to reflect upon how much I missed teaching older students. With this in mind, I moved to Hurstpierpoint College, Sussex, in 2019, where I am now teaching predominately GCSE and A Level Drama within a vibrant Drama department.

Being a drama teacher is busy and effective time management and a real love for your subject is essential. I have directed a plethora of extra-curricular productions and scripted and devised exam pieces, whilst also preparing many students for their challenging GCSE and A Level Drama and Theatre Studies written exams. I am familiar with and have taught an extensive range of exam board specifications, including EDEXCEL, AQA, IGCSE and WJEC. Whilst working at St Teresa’s, I was also Head of LAMDA, with my large cohort of students predominately achieving distinctions in their Grade 2-6 Acting and Speech and Drama examinations. It was a lovely moment in my teaching career when I discovered these results were the best the school had ever achieved. I have also helped many students further their studies in Drama beyond A Level, with drama school audition preparation and UCAS Drama and Theatre Arts university applications and references.

Whist I love the energy and group dynamic in a large Drama class, I equally love tutoring students individually, helping them to master the challenges of the GCSE and A Level Theatre Studies written exam or fine-tuning  their acting skills. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that could prove invaluable to your child’s educational development. Whether it is providing support for written GCSE or A Level Drama papers, or coaching support for scholarship/ school / college / university / drama school applications, my experience could make a real difference in helping your child achieve greater success in the highly competitive world of Drama related study.
