Biography

I am an experienced Mathematics teacher and tutor currently working as an Achievement Director of Maths in a central London secondary school. In my role, I lead a department focused on raising attainment and challenging misconceptions around what students can achieve. With the right support, guidance, and encouragement, our GCSE students consistently achieve outcomes above those of comparable schools. I hold an MEng, MBA, and PGCE, and began tutoring while studying at Queen Mary University. Supporting students in earlier stages of their studies was incredibly rewarding and sparked my passion for teaching. This gradually developed into a long-term commitment to education, both in and out of the classroom.

Mathematics has always been a passion of mine, though I understand it can feel challenging or overwhelming for many students. I prioritise creating a calm and supportive learning environment, using well-structured lessons to address misconceptions and build confidence. My approach is personable, patient, and focused on ensuring each student feels supported throughout their learning journey.

 

Teaching Experience

I have over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience, with more than 5000 hours spent working with students of a wide range of abilities and learning needs, including SEN, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD, high achievers, and Oxbridge candidates.

I teach Mathematics across a broad range of levels and entry points, including:

KS3, KS4, 7+, 8+, 10+, 11+, 13+, 16+, GCSE, iGCSE (all exam boards), iSEB, UKiset, as well as entrance exams such as MAT, TMUA, IELTS, and UCAT.

Having also worked as an examiner, I have a strong understanding of the exam techniques required to succeed. I ensure students are confident in tackling exam-style questions and are equipped with strategies to maximise marks. My teaching is informed by research-based approaches. I regularly apply the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) method to deepen understanding, and every lesson begins with a high-intensity retrieval activity to strengthen long-term memory, supported by principles such as the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve. Lessons are engaging, structured, and built around real-life contexts to make concepts accessible and meaningful.
