JAGS evaluates applicants through a combination of a standardised digital pre-test and a mandatory on-site experience day:

The ISEB Common Pre-Test: A digital, adaptive test taken either at the applicant's current primary school or at a local test centre. Questions change difficulty automatically based on the candidate's previous responses. The test covers four core areas: English (Reading comprehension and SPAG), Mathematics (National Curriculum topics up to Year 6), Verbal Reasoning (Vocabulary and logic rules), and Non-Verbal Reasoning (Spatial reasoning and 2D/3D pattern recognition).

The Mandatory Welcome Morning: Held on-site at JAGS, this key session bypasses standard testing anxiety by evaluating candidates through active participation. It includes a friendly 1-on-1 interview with a teacher, a short handwritten creative writing piece, and interactive group problem-solving exercises.
Note: There is no separate application required for Academic Scholarships at JAGS; the highest-performing girls in the digital pre-test and welcome morning are automatically invited to the final scholarship afternoon in late January.
