Inside the Holistic 11+ Admissions Path at Francis Holland

Operating two elite campuses across London (Francis Holland Regent's Park and Francis Holland Sloane Square), this premier group of girls' day schools is famous for its nurturing environment and top-tier academic outcomes. Like South Hampstead, both Francis Holland campuses are members of the London 11+ Consortium, sharing a harmonised testing blueprint and application timeline.

The Core Timeline

  • Registration Deadline: Friday, 6th November of Year 6

  • The Consortium Assessment Day: Late November or early December of Year 6

  • Mandatory Interview Window: Held throughout early January of Year 6

  • Offers & Acceptances: Offers are sent out in mid-February, with the acceptance deadline landing in early March.

The Detailed Exam Format

Candidates sit the unified, 100-minute London 11+ Consortium Test online. There is no extended creative prose or essay section included in this test. The process is divided as follows:

  • The Adaptive Phase (60 Minutes total): Includes Maths (20 mins) testing Year 5 syllabus fluency, Non-Verbal Reasoning (10 mins) evaluating logic patterns, and English & Verbal Reasoning (30 mins) testing contextual word definitions and structural comprehension.

  • The Critical Thinking Phase (40 Minutes total): Includes Puzzles & Problem Solving (15 mins) looking for strategic deduction, and Creative Comprehension (25 mins) which presents data through charts, texts, and diagrams and asks students to synthesise the information to solve problems.

The Francis Holland Interview Philosophy

Unlike many London day schools that use the exam to aggressively screen out candidates before the interview stage, Francis Holland operates a holistic admissions model. They actively commit to interviewing every single girl who applies, ensuring your daughter has a guaranteed platform to showcase her personal character, extracurricular passions, and conversational confidence.
