Mathematics

Biography

I am an experienced Mathematics educator with ten years of teaching experience across two contrasting London independent schools: a highly selective academic institution and a specialist SEND school. My career spans over 20 years across education and biomedical research, combining academic expertise with a commitment to helping students of all abilities achieve their potential.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Anatomy and Developmental Biology, incorporating pre-clinical medicine, and achieved a First in my final-year dissertation, with the highest mark awarded among intercalated medical students. My subsequent PhD studies encompassed Neuroscience, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.

During a ten-year tenure as a Research Fellow at the Eastman Dental Institute, UCL, I conducted original biomedical research, published and peer-reviewed scientific articles, and co-supervised clinicians undertaking Master's and Doctoral research. This experience further developed my expertise in quantitative reasoning, statistical analysis and applied Mathematics.

Having served as Head of Mathematics at Centre Academy London and Mathematics Teacher at St Paul's Girls' School, I now provide personalised Mathematics tuition at various levels, including preparation for competitive school examinations.

Teaching Experience

My teaching experience encompasses 11+, GCSE/iGCSE, Level 2 Further Mathematics, Level 3 Additional Mathematics, Core Mathematics and AS/A-level qualifications.

Teaching highlights include:

  • Head of Mathematics – Centre Academy London: Led KS3–5 Mathematics teaching, curriculum development and assessment within a specialist SEND school. Designed differentiated courses for students with autism, ADHD and other additional learning needs, as well as advanced provision for gifted and talented learners. Supported successful applications to competitive Mathematics enrichment workshops at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford.

  • Mathematics Teacher – St Paul's Girls' School: Taught KS4–5 Mathematics, preparing students for iGCSE, Level 3 Additional Mathematics and A-level examinations, and contributing to entrance examination materials.

  • Private Mathematics Tuition: Delivered bespoke tuition from KS3 to A-level, identifying gaps in understanding, building mathematical fluency and developing problem-solving skills, examination technique and academic confidence through targeted teaching and ongoing assessment.

My teaching combines academic rigour with patience and encouragement, helping students develop confidence, think independently and approach Mathematics with genuine understanding and enjoyment.
