Biography
I like to think my science career started in secondary school, where I developed a strong passion for science, particularly Chemistry and Biology. This passion took me on to study a BSc in Chemistry, along with a year-abroad research placement where I investigated the synthesis and use of photosensitive compounds. Following this, I then completed an MSc in Chemistry, specialising in Medicinal Chemistry.
Teaching Experience
I have been teaching Science for four years and have developed a deep understanding of what makes an outstanding lesson. I believe the biggest barrier for students in science is a lack of confidence and the skills to combat exam questions - both of which are embedded within my lesson planning. I often encourage students to link scientific theory with the world they experience, helping them develop scientific enquiry.
My teaching experience spans all key stages; for KS3 and KS4 (GCSE), I teach all three science disciplines, and for KS5 I have experience teaching both Chemistry and Biology. Over the last year, I have had the sole responsibility of overseeing the A-Level Chemistry teaching in my school. This has helped me understand the specification in depth and allowed me to develop effective lesson and revision resources for students.
