11+ Maths and English

Biography

Having grown up with a historian father who wrote books and travelled widely, I was naturally drawn towards history, maps and writing. I also write children’s stories and have a particularly creative and imaginative mind. From my mother, I developed an interest in science, maths and psychology. Another strong area of interest is photography, and I have been teaching myself (using YouTube) how to take good photographs of birds. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time in nature or playing games such as Scrabble.

Teaching Experience

I have over 12 years of primary school classroom teaching experience, including teaching Year 5 in a prep school. I am familiar with the primary curriculum and can tutor at any level. I also have over 20 years of tutoring experience, working with students ranging from ages 4 to 15.

I specialise in several areas. Firstly, I have extensive experience in 11+ preparation for both grammar and independent schools, with a strong success rate for entry. Secondly, I support students with dyslexia (I am trained in the SRS method) and have achieved excellent progress with struggling readers. Thirdly, I help children who find maths challenging, including those with dyscalculia.
