Psychology GCSE, Sociology A-level

I am originally from the United States but have now lived in the UK for over ten years. I came here for Sixth Form and was so impressed with the UK education system that I never left. I come from a long line of teachers, and no other career interested me when I graduated from the University of Edinburgh. At university, I focused on elements of social psychology in my first-class Masters’ dissertation.

My first teaching job was in Hong Kong as an English Language Teacher. I worked at St.Paul’s Catholic School, teaching English to primary aged children. Here, I gained valuable experience as a teacher, and learnt how much I enjoy working with and teaching children.

After my time in Hong Kong, I realised I missed studying Psychology. So, I moved to Oxford to get my teaching training in Social Sciences (Psychology and Sociology). During this year, I taught Year 9 to Year 13 AQA Psychology at GCSE and A-Level and AS AQA Sociology in schools around Oxfordshire. I also received my Mental Health First Aid training, and I ensure to centre wellbeing in my practice as a teacher and tutor at school. I now live in London and teach AS-Sociology and A-Level Psychology at Reed’s School in Cobham. I am inclusive in my teaching practices and adapt my lessons for the students that I have. I have taught students of all abilities, and I am all about getting to know my students well to make the content accessible and interesting.
